In my role as chief research officer at CulturePulse, I developed and established the “Modeling the Reduction of Nuclear Dangers” (MODRN) project in collaboration with Search for Common Ground. The project is funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
The goal of this ongoing project, initiated in January 2026, is to reduce nuclear risks by equipping intermediary organizations with context-sensitive, evidence-based tools that strengthen their ability to model escalation dynamics, anticipate risks, and inform de-escalation strategies. To achieve this, the project will first generate insights that guide the design of a socially and politically realistic simulation model, focusing on the systemic drivers of proliferation and pathways to restraint. It will then develop and validate a digital twin tool that captures escalation dynamics, long-term trajectories, and viable policy alternatives for restraint, nonproliferation, and arms control.
